CREE (NASDAQ: CREE) announced that XLamp xt-e LED, a popular product, has achieved significant technical improvement and continues to lead high-power LED innovation. Thanks to the key elements of the technology platform of Cree SC5, the updated xt-e LED series currently includes the option of new High efficiency (HE, High efficiency) products, which is 25% higher than the previous xt-e LED, and guarantees the lowest light efficiency of 164 lm/W under the condition of 85°C and 350mA. These technological advances can help lighting manufacturers achieve system efficiency of 130 lm/W or higher under practical working conditions, while allowing existing users to rapidly upgrade system performance for outdoor lighting, industrial lighting and other applications, while still achieving lower system costs.

Colin Piepgras, vice President of engineering at Digital Lumens, said, 'we are committed to building more energy efficient industrial lighting systems, and the xt-e LED version of Cree high light efficiency can help us achieve this goal without additional investment or recertification. With the new xt-e LED, we can still use existing optical, mechanical and electrical design elements to help us quickly improve our intelligent lighting solution portfolio.'
The upgraded xt-e LED improves brightness, voltage characteristics, optical performance, and more in the proven 3.45mm x 3.45mm XT package architecture.

The xt-e LED can now provide more than 10,000 hours of lm-80 data, and the L90 reported under 105°C and 1A conditions has a lifetime of more than 60,000 hours, demonstrating the superior long-term reliability of Cree high-power ceramic leds. This industry-leading reliability, is an ideal choice for outdoor lighting, high ceiling lighting and other applications, to ensure a long life at high ambient temperature. At the same time, the improved light efficiency and reliability of xt-e are well suited to the requirements of the recently updated DLC 4.0 technical specification.

Dave Emerson, vice President and general manager of LED business division, said, 'our continuous innovation helps our customers quickly improve their existing products to not only gain competitive advantage, but also meet rising industry standards. The upgraded xt-e LED offers a quick solution that saves customers time and cost by eliminating the need to redesign other unproven product choices.'
At the end of June, the upgraded xt-e LED will be available for sample application and mass production with standard delivery times.
